Child Support

Child Support is an ongoing payment made by a parent for the financial benefit of a child after the end of a marriage or other relationship. Even if you are in a good relationship with your former partner and are receiving money for the benefit of your child.

Divorce

There are three primary ways to legally end a marriage or registered domestic partnership in the state of California – annulment, legal separation, and divorce. California is a “no-fault” state, when it comes to divorce.

Property Division

Next to child custody issues, the proper division and distribution of property and assets can be the most important thing your family law attorney does for you. Properly evaluating, valuing, negotiating and dividing you and your former partner’s assets will insure that you have the best possible chance.

Child Custody & Parenting Plans

Navigating a divorce or separation can be difficult, both legally and emotionally. Adding a child, or children, to the equation only amplifies the complexity. If you are involved in the dissolution of your marriage or domestic partnership and have a child.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is behavior by a current or former spouse, significant other, roommate, or person you are related to through blood or marriage which involves abuse (physical, mental, sexual, or otherwise) which causes or attempts to cause you physical injury.

Step-Parent Adoption

Typically, a step-parent adoption involves a spouse or partner who would like to adopt a child from their spouse’s previous marriage or domestic partnership. This is a delicate, but important, process, particularly if members of the previous marriage are estranged.

  • Teresa McNamara was recommended to me by a Los Angeles County Attorney as the ONLY Orange County family law attorney that he would recommend to me for assistance in a post-dissolution matter. Ms. McNamara did not disappoint! In court, she was highly professional and knowledgeable. She came prepared and secured the order I was seeking. Her fees were reasonable and I highly recommend her to anyone needing assistance in family law matters.

  • I was fortunate to be referred to Teresa from a close friend. Teresa was very open to explaining the steps, requirements and situations that may arise in my divorce proceedings. She is very knowledgeable about not only the process, but legal strategies that will assist you in getting the best possible outcome for settlement. She takes the time to explain every document, and procedural step with the courts. Without her guidance I truly don’t know how I would have achieved the financial results attained in my settlement. Teresa’s professionalism, knowledge, and compassion for what I was enduring was very appreciated. I highly recommend Teresa if you are considering hiring legal counsel.

  • I was referred to Teresa McNamara, by a friend, to help me with my divorce. Teresa helped me every step of the way. She was patient, professional and understanding. She took the time to explain every form, order and stipulation, and was straightforward in dealing with any issues that came up. She assessed every angle of the situation in order for me to get the best possible settlement. Teresa was not only a professional with me but also with all of her correspondence to the opposing counsel. I have already recommended her to another friend who is in need of her services. I highly recommend her across the boards.

  • Teresa is without a doubt one of the best family law attorneys I have met. She has been able to walk me through some very difficult child support and visitation issues. I was referred to Teresa by a colleague after my original family law attorney allowed the family court to walk all over me. Teresa took on my case and explained all my options after she researched the issues at hand. I truly appreciate how thorough she is and how she can get answers to questions quickly. She also has a gift of walking me through issues and not letting the noise get in the way. I highly recommend Teresa!
